It looks like our warm up has ended. Monday was in the low 30’s with freezing rain and rain most of the day. Yesterday was mid 30’s with some freezing drizzle and then very light snow showers which gave us a dusting. Trails turned to slushy snow with the warmer temps but have now froze up solid. I headed out for a ride hitting some St. Germain, Eagle River, Sayner and Lake Tomahawk trails. The St. Germain, Sayner and Lake Tomahawk trails I rode were groomed Monday. They were pretty smooth with a few bumps in spots. The Eagle River trail I rode hasn’t been groomed for several days and was getting bumpy and a fair number of corners were pushed out. It’s hard to give a rating to the trails. This morning they are froze solid with almost no loose snow for the slides and cooling (if you have ice scratchers, use them). However, as more traffic rides them they should loosen up and solve that issue. The warm up did melt snow but most trails I rode still have a decent base. There are some thin spots – mainly on the inside of corners. There is also more snirt coming up making some trails brown. That being said, there are trails that are still white, smooth and with a grooming, will be excellent. While the warm up sucked, we should come out of this okay. With the base froze up solid, a grooming and then a little snow will have most trails good or better.

Lakes are in decent shape. There are some frozen ruts that you should watch out for and there’s not much loose snow on them.
