I headed out for a ride hitting some Sayner, St. Germain, Lake Tomahawk and Sugar Camp trails. St. Germain groomed majority of their trails I rode but not others. Sayner groomed the trails I rode. The Lake Tomahawk and Sugar Camp ones I rode hadn’t been groomed. We had a total of 14 inches of snow this week from Monday through yesterday. All this new snow and some clubs still aren’t grooming. The groomed trails were smooth. The ungroomed ones ranged from smooth to very bumpy. Where trails kept the base during the warm up last week, trails are fair to very good. Where trails melted to bare ground during the warm up, are bad to fair with some good. Carbides were scraping in areas. Be very careful in corners as some are all ice. As the groomers continue to get out (or for some clubs, if they get out), this snow will help the trails and start to get packed in better.

Plowed road trails are a mixed bag. Where the ice base didn’t melt they are fine. Where they melted to bare pavement, carbides will scrape a lot.
