We did get another half inch of snow last night. Might be a little more but with all the blowing it’s hard to tell. I headed out for a ride hitting some Eagle River and St. Germain trails. The Eagle River trails I rode had been groomed. St. Germain had groomed some of their trails but not others. Trails were packed in tight today and with the new snow on top were nice to ride. The groomed ones were smooth overall but still had some bumps the groomer didn’t flatten out completely. The ungroomed ones were pretty smooth overall and looked like they had been groomed the day before but did have bumps. I’m going with an overall good rating. Found some that were white, smooth and really nice. Others had corners that are getting pushed out and thin on snow or icy. the groomer drivers are doing a great job of bringing snow back onto lots of corners. The carbides were still scraping on some corners. Some trails are brown from snirt while others are mostly to all white. Most plowed road trails have a decent base but some are starting to have areas where the carbides will scrape and there are a few bare spots.
Lakes are slushy if you get off the trail. There are areas of nasty ruts from where sleds went through the slush and the tracks froze. More lakes are getting marked but there’s still quite a few that aren’t. We don’t advise riding a lake unless it’s marked or you know it’s safe.
Note: In some pics trails will look whiter than they are due to the new snow.
