Another cold morning at -17. I headed out for a short ride hitting some Sayner and St. Germain trails as it was still -8 when I left. All the trails I rode had been groomed. They were packed in nice and solid with the cold temps. They were overall smooth with some small bumps. It’s still a mixed bag of conditions out there. Some stretches are all white and really nice, majority are fair with snirt, pushed out corners and carbides scraping in places and then there’s poor areas that have minimal snow cover so carbides scrape a lot. There’s a lot of pushed out, icy corners so slow down. The groomers are doing their best to pull snow back onto trails and work with the limited snow we have, but some areas don’t have enough snow to work with. For not having much snow it is still amazing how bumpy a trail can get if not groomed. Traffic is already heavy so expect trails to get beat up this week and over the weekend. Lake accesses are rough and don’t have much if any snow on them. Road trails don’t have much of a base and your carbides will scrape a lot.

Most lakes are reported to be in good condition being smooth with plenty of ice.

If you really want to ride, trails are ridable. I’d rate them overall in fair condition. We sure could use some more snow…
