I headed out for a ride hitting some Eagle River, Sayner, Lake Tomahawk and St. Germain trails. The Lake Tomahawk trails I rode had been groomed. St. Germain and Sayner had groomed some of their trails but not others. The Eagle River trails I rode hadn’t been groomed. The groomed trails were fairly smooth but still had some bumps and some pushed out, icy corners. The ungroomed ones ranged from fairly smooth with some bumps to really bumpy and can’t wait to get off that trail. There are some beautiful trails that make you want to ride forever. Then there are some so bumpy you want to park the sled. Carbides were scraping on quite a few corners and some trails are very brown from snirt. What I rode today I’d rate as fair to excellent good.
Plowed road trails range from having a decent base with little scraping to areas that are getting thin with the carbides scraping quite a bit. They are also getting some bare areas.
The lakes I’ve ridden lately are in nice condition. However, be on the lookout for ruts or bumpy areas.
Just a reminder… STOP signs are put up for a reason. Whether you ride fast, slow or in-between, not acknowledging them is just plain stupid and is a good way to get in an accident or get a trail closed.
