Happy New Year!

I headed out for a ride hitting some St. Germain, Eagle River, Sayner and Lake Tomahawk trails. The St. Germain and Eagle River trails I rode had been groomed. Sayner had groomed some of their trails I rode but not others. The Lake Tomahawk trails I rode hadn’t been groomed. The groomed trails I rode were nice. They were overall smooth with some bumps the groomer didn’t flatten completely and packed in tight with temps around 0. The ungroomed ones ranged from fairly smooth to bumpy. Also had some corners starting to get pushed out making them icy or thin on snow. I’m giving the trails an overall good rating but with the amount of traffic in the area, trails will get beat up pretty quick.

Lakes are slushy. Where sleds rode through the slush it froze and there’s lots of nasty ruts. Most lakes aren’t marked yet. We don’t advise riding a lake unless it’s marked or you know it’s safe.

It’s a holiday week so expect lots of traffic. Please stay on your side of the trail and remember that stop signs are there for a reason.
