We managed to get a dusting of snow – can’t believe the “experts” can’t even come close to accurately predicting how much snow we’ll get only hours before it’s suppose to start. We both headed out for rides hitting some Sayner, Boulder Junction, Eagle River, Arbor Vitae and St. Germain trails. The Boulder Junction trail I rode had been groomed. Sayner had groomed some of their trails but not others. Arbor Vitae looked like they had groomed most of their trails a day ago. Eagle River hadn’t groomed the trails I rode. After nearly a week of not grooming, St. Germain finally groomed most of their trails but still had lots of bumps the groomer couldn’t get out. It’s still a mixed bag of conditions out there. Some stretches are all white and really nice, majority are fair with snirt, pushed out corners and carbides scraping in places and then there’s poor areas that have minimal snow cover so carbides scrape a lot. There’s a lot of pushed out, icy corners. The groomers are doing their best to pull snow back onto trails and work with the limited snow we have, but some areas don’t have enough snow to work with. For not having much snow it is still amazing how bumpy a trail can get if not groomed. Lake accesses are rough and don’t have much if any snow on them. Road trails don’t have much of a base and your carbides will scrape a lot.

Most lakes are reported to be in good condition being smooth with plenty of ice.

If you really want to ride, trails are ridable. I’d rate them overall in fair condition. We sure could use some more snow…
