When I got up to clear my driveway this morning we had about 5 inches of snow. However, when I left for a ride, we had 2 more, so a total of 7 so far. I headed out for a ride hitting some St. Germain, Eagle River and Sayner trails. St. Germain groomed their trails I rode. The Eagle River and Sayner ones I rode still hadn’t been groomed. All this new snow and some clubs still aren’t grooming. It sure would help to pack them in better. All trails were fresh powder with the snow. The groomed trails were smooth. The ungroomed ones ranged from smooth to having some bumps. Where trails kept the base during the warm up, trails are fair to very good. Where trails melted to bare ground during the warm up are bad to fair. Carbides were scraping in areas. Be very careful in corners as some are all ice. Once the groomers get out, this snow should really help the trails and start to get packed in better.

Plowed road trails are a mixed bag. Where the ice base didn’t melt they are fine. Where they melted to bare pavement, carbides will scrape a lot.

Note: In some pics, trails will look whiter than they are due to the fresh snow.
