Woke up to a beautiful surprise – I measured 4 inches of snow that wasn’t predicted and still snowing lightly. I headed out for a ride hitting some Sayner, Eagle River, Lake Tomahawk and St. Germain trails. The St. Germain, Lake Tomahawk and Eagle River trails I rode had been groomed. The Sayner trails I rode hadn’t been groomed. The groomed trails ranged from mostly smooth to already getting bumps the groomer hasn’t been able to completely flatten out. The ungroomed ones ranged from fairly smooth to bumpy. I’m going with a fair to very good rating. Some trails are very nice – all white, smooth and so much fun to ride. Then there’s areas with bumps. You’ll see more areas that are brownish from snirt. The carbides were scraping on the inside of some corners because they are thin on snow.

Plowed road trails range from having a good ice base to areas of bare pavement. Carbides will scrape in areas.

There’s some slush on lakes from the thaw.

Just a reminder… STOP signs are put up for a reason. Whether you ride fast, slow or in-between, not acknowledging them is just plain stupid and is a good way to get in an accident or get a trail closed.

Note: In some pics trail look whiter than they are due to the fresh snow.
