We picked up a little snow last night/this morning – around 3/4 of an inch of fluffy stuff. I headed out for a ride hitting some Sayner, Eagle River, Conover and St. Germain trails. The St. Germain and Conover trails I rode had been groomed. Eagle River had groomed some but not others. It didn’t look like Sayner had groomed. Traffic was very heavy this pat weekend and trails got beat up. The groomed ones were smoother but still had some bumps the groomer couldn’t get out. The ungroomed ones ranged from fairly smooth with some bumps to bumpy enough that I wanted to get off that trail. The carbides were scraping on a lot more corners today. There’s also more snirt making some trails brown. Also noticed that trails had a softer feel to them. I’d rate trails from fair to very good.
Plowed road trails range from having a decent base with little scraping to areas that are getting thin with the carbides scraping quite a bit.
The lakes I’ve ridden lately are in nice condition. However, be on the lookout for ruts or bumpy areas.
Just a reminder… STOP signs are put up for a reason. Whether you ride fast, slow or in-between, not acknowledging them is just plain stupid and is a good way to get in an accident or get a trail closed.
Note: In some pics trail will look whiter than they are due to the fresh snow.
