We picked up around and inch and a half of snow last night/this morning and still some snow falling. We both headed out for rides hitting some Sayner, Lake Tomahawk, Arbor Vitae and St. Germain trails. The Sayner and St. Germain trails I rode had been groomed.  Lake Tomahawk had groomed some of their trails but not others. The Arbor Vitae trails I rode hadn’t been groomed. The groomed ones were smooth overall but still had some bumps the groomer didn’t flatten out completely. The ungroomed ones were still pretty smooth with some small bumps. I’m going with an overall good rating. I rode some trails that were so nice I wanted to turn around and ride again. Others had corners that are getting pushed out and thin on snow or icy. The groomer drivers are trying their best to bring snow back onto those corners. The carbides were still scraping on some corners. Some trails are brown from snirt while others are mostly to all white. Most plowed road trails have a decent base but some are starting to have areas where the carbides will scrape and there are a few bare spots.

Lakes are slushy if you get off the trail. There are areas of nasty ruts from where sleds went through the slush and the tracks froze. Most lakes are marked. We don’t advise riding a lake unless it’s marked or you know it’s safe.

Trails are nice but expect heavy traffic the new few days so trails will get beat up. However, the groomers will be out trying to keep them as good as they can for us.

Note: In some pics trail appear whiter than they are due to the new snow.
