We’ve picked up 2 inches of snow so far and still snowing lightly. I headed out for a ride hitting some Sayner, Eagle River, Lake Tomahawk and St. Germain trails. The St. Germain and Eagle River trails I rode had been groomed. Sayner had groomed some of their trails but not others. The Lake Tomahawk trails I rode hadn’t been groomed in a while. The groomed trails were mostly smooth but still some bumps the groomer hasn’t been able to completely flatten out. The ungroomed ones ranged from fairly smooth to very bumpy. I’m going with a fair to very good rating. On some trails the groomer was trying to go as wide as possible to bring more snow it. I wish they’d groom like that all the time because I like wide trails. There’s more room when I meet people who don’t know how to stay on their side of the trail – dumbasses! Some trails are very nice – all white, smooth and so much fun to ride. Then there’s others that are bumpy. You’ll see more areas that are brownish from snirt. The carbides were scraping on the inside of some corners because they are bare from the thaw or thin on snow.
Plowed road trails range from having a good ice base to areas of bare pavement. Carbides will scrape in areas.
There’s some slush on lake from the thaw.
Just a reminder… STOP signs are put up for a reason. Whether you ride fast, slow or in-between, not acknowledging them is just plain stupid and is a good way to get in an accident or get a trail closed.
Note: In some pics trail look whiter than they are due to the fresh snow.
