We picked up another 2.5 inches of snow yesterday late morning/early afternoon. We both headed out for rides hitting some Sayner, Conover, Lake Tomahawk, Eagle River and St. Germain trails. The Eagle River, Conover and St. Germain trails I rode had been groomed. Sayner and Lake Tomahawk had groomed some but not others. The groomed trails were smooth. Some were packed in tight and others had a soft feel to them. The ungroomed ones were smooth overall with a few bumps here and there. I’m going with a fair to excellent rating. Some trails are sweet – all white, smooth and so much fun to ride. You’ll see more areas that are brownish from snirt. The carbides were scraping in spots mainly on the inside of some corners. Some areas that are exposed to sun are showing some bare ground. However, most areas have a base and this is not an issue yet.
Plowed road trails range from having a good ice base to areas of bare pavement. Carbides will scrape in areas.
Lakes are in pretty good condition. As always, watch out for ruts and bumps.
Just a reminder… STOP signs are put up for a reason. Whether you ride fast, slow or in-between, not acknowledging them is just plain stupid and is a good way to get in an accident or get a trail closed.
