I headed out for a ride hitting some Sayner, Eagle River and St. Germain trails. The Eagle River and St. Germain trails I rode had been groomed. Sayner groomed some their trails but not others. The groomed ones were smooth overall but still had some bumps the groomer didn’t flatten out completely. The ungroomed ones were getting bumpy and made me not want to ride them. Trails ranged from fair to excellent. Found some that were white, smooth and really nice. Others had corners that are getting pushed out and thin on snow or icy. The carbides were scraping on some corners. Some trails are brown from snirt while others are mostly to all white. Most plowed road trails have a decent base but some are starting to have areas where the carbides will scrape.
Lakes are slushy if you get off the trail. There are areas of nasty ruts from where sleds went through the slush and the tracks froze. More lakes are getting marked but there’s still quite a few that aren’t. We don’t advise riding a lake unless it’s marked or you know it’s safe.
