Some good news – trails in Oneida county (south of us) and price county (west of us) opened up this morning giving riders more options. I headed out for a ride hitting some Sayner, Eagle River, Lake Tomahawk and St. Germain trails. The Eagle River trail I rode had been groomed. Sayner and St. Germain had groomed some of their trails but not others. The Lake Tomahawk trails I rode just opened and looked like they were panned over a week ago but haven’t been groomed since then. It’s a mixed bag of conditions out there. Some stretches are all white and really nice, majority are fair with snirt, pushed out corners and carbides scraping in places and then there’s poor areas that have minimal snow cover so carbides scrape a lot. There’s a lot of pushed out, icy corners so slow down. The groomers are doing their best to pull snow back onto trails and work with the limited snow we have, but some areas don’t have enough snow to work with. For not having much snow it is still amazing how bumpy a trail can get if not groomed. Traffic is already heavy so expect trails to get beat up this weekend. Lake accesses are rough and don’t have much if any snow on them. Road trails don’t have much of a base and your carbides will scrape a lot.

Most lakes are reported to be in good condition being smooth with plenty of ice.

If you really want to ride, trails are ridable. I’d rate them overall in fair condition. We sure could use some more snow…
