I headed out for a ride hitting some St. Germain, Eagle River, Conover, Sayner and Lake Tomahawk trails. The St. Germain, Eagle River and Conover trails I rode had been groomed. They were mostly smooth but some areas are still bumpy because the groomers weren’t able to completely flatten out the bumps. The Sayner and Lake Tomahawk trails I rode hadn’t been groomed and were bumpy. Traffic was heavy this past weekend so trails are showing extra wear. There are corners that are getting pushed out making them icy and/or thin on snow on the insides. My carbides did scrape on some. There are areas of snirt showing up making the trail brownish but still plenty of trails that are mostly white. I did find some really nice ones too.

Plowed road trails are in poor to fair condition. A lot of them are showing areas of bare pavement (from small patches to big spots). The ones I rode had an ice base with some bare spots and very little to no loose snow on them.

Some lakes are getting bumpy while others are pretty smooth. We did have a lot of slush and where sleds and ice fishermen on ATVs have driven through it’s froze back up leaving some nasty ruts.

I’m going with an overall fair/good on the trails. There are lots of good to very good areas but enough fair (mainly due to being bumpy) to keep from an overall good rating. It sure would be nice to pick up 3-4 inches of new snow. It would freshen things up and give the groomers more to work with.
