Yesterday morning started with some rain which turned over to snow. We got 4 inches of snow with the first inch and a half being a heavy wet snow/sleet and then the temps dropped so the rest of the snow was drier. I headed out for a ride hitting some St. Germain, Eagle River, Conover and Sayner trails. The St. Germain, Eagle River and Sayner trails I rode had been groomed and were smooth overall with some bumps here and there. The Conover trail I rode didn’t look like it had been groomed since the snow unless they were out early during the day yesterday and more snow fell afterwards. I’m giving the trails an overall fair to good rating. More trails are good with the new snow. I found some very good stretches out there that were very nice. Since there was a lot of snirt before this snow it will get mixed in and I could already see it today. Some trails have the brownish tint. My carbides were still scraping in areas – mainly on the insides of turns but not nearly as much as before the snow. Plowed road trails were much better and the carbides only scraped a little. It’s windy today and blowing the snow around. This is helping smooth out some of the frozen slush ruts on lakes.

This snow was much needed and has helped the trails. Groomers will be out and cold temps are predicted so get out and ride…
