I headed out for a ride hitting some St. Germain, Eagle River, Sayner and Conover trails. The Eagle River, St. Germain and Sayner trails I rode had been groomed while most of the Conover ones were too. Everything was smooth with only a few small bumps in spots. Based on what I rode, I’m going with an overall good to very good rating. It didn’t get very cold so trails weren’t as packed in today but still tight enough to limit pushing in corners. There are  some areas with snirt making the trail brownish but most are white with good snow cover. Majority of the corners are holding snow but some are getting pushed out making them icy and/or thin on snow on the insides. As traffic increases more will get pushed out. My carbides scraped a few times on corners but not too much. There’s a lot of really nice trails out there.

Note: The trail on the east side of St. Germain between intersection numbers 287 & 288 is closed.

Plowed road trails range from having a decent ice base with some snow on them to having areas that are thin with no snow and bare spots (St. Germain plows are out scraping again today despite not getting any snow). We had a little freezing drizzle yesterday which should help them out a bit.

More lakes are getting marked. If a lake is not marked or you’re not sure about the ice, consider it unsafe. Please stay off the lakes until they are safe. There are some nasty frozen ruts on the lakes that are marked.
