I headed out for a ride hitting some St. Germain, Eagle River, Lake Tomahawk and Sayner and trails. The St. Germain and Eagle River trails I rode had been groomed. Most of the Sayner trails I rode had been groomed and some of the Lake Tomahawk ones were groomed. The groomed trails ranged from mostly smooth to some areas still have some bumps because the groomers weren’t able to completely flatten them out to areas where the groomer dug into moguls or berms and left big chunks of frozen snow on the trail. The ungroomed Lake Tomahawk trails ranged from smooth to getting bumpy. The Sayner trail I rode that was not groomed is terrible, hasn’t been groomed all week and lots of moguls (trail 9 south of intersection 204). Most of the trails I rode were really nice overall. Saw some corners that are getting pushed out making them icy and/or thin on snow on the insides. My carbides did scrape on some. There are areas of snirt showing up making the trail brownish but still plenty of trails that are mostly white.

Plowed road trails remain in poor to fair condition. A lot of them are showing areas of bare pavement (from small patches to big spots). The ones I rode had an ice base with some bare spots and very little to no loose snow on them. Carbides are scraping on them.

I’m going with an overall good rating on the trails. There are lots of good to very good areas. My advice is to ride now if you can. Warm weather is predicted for the next 4 days starting today. Not sure how things will hold up but our best guess is trails in the woods should hold with some corners betting bare while town trails and ones along roads will take a hit. Plowed road trails will most likely become more pavement than snow and/or ice. Hopefully it won’t get as warm as predicted…
