Snowmobile Trail Report for Wednesday, February 11, 2015

We managed to pick up about a half inch of snow last night. I headed out for a ride hitting some St. Germain, Eagle River, Sayner and Lake Tomahawk trails. St. Germain and Eagle River groomed. Sayner groomed some of their trails I rode but not others. It looks like it’s been a day or two since Lake Tomahawk groomed. The ones Sayner didn’t groomed were still pretty smooth with a few bumps here and there. The Lake tomahawk ones I rode were getting some bumps but not too bad.

It’s a mixed bag of conditions out there. Trails range from some poor spots, lots of fair to good and some very good. Watch for pushed out corners with the insides being either icy or thin on snow. Today I found majority of corners snow covered but as more sleds go on them expect icy ones. A fair number of the trails I rode had at least some brownish tint from the snirt including some that were pretty brown. Then I’d find some stretches that are all white with good snow. Plowed road trails are getting thin.

Even though this isn’t a lot of snow it will help. Groomers are doing a good job with the snow we have and this will give them a little more to work with. They are pulling snow back onto the corners as much as possible.

There is good riding out there. Try to get off the main corridors and town trails for the best conditions. Also look for wider more open trails as the tight twisty ones get beat up faster.

In some of the pictures trails will look whiter than they are due to the recent snowfall.
