Snowmobile Trail Report for Tuesday,February 9, 2016

The snow showers we’ve been having the past couple days have added up to 2 inches of snow. It’s been windy so the snow has been blowing around. I headed out for a ride hitting some St. Germain, Eagle River, Sayner and Lake Tomahawk trails. St. Germain and Eagle River groomed their trails I rode. Lake Tomahawk had groomed one trail but not the other I hit. Sayner hadn’t groomed. The groomed trails were smooth but still a bit soft. I thought the colder weather would’ve had them packed in solid. The groomers did a good job of pulling snow back onto the corners covering the ice and/or thin spots. The trails that hadn’t been groomed overall were still fairly smooth with the exception of some stretches that were getting bumpy. I’m going with an overall fair to good rating. Watch for corners that are pushed out making them icy and/or thin on snow on the inside. There is snirt coming through making some trails a brownish tint and others very brown. However, you’ll find areas that are all white and very nice. For the best conditions try to stay out of towns and off the main corridor trails.

Slush has become prevalent on most makes. Staying on the marked trails should make you avoid it but there might be some frozen ruts in spots.

Note: In the pics some trails will look whiter than they are due to the new snow.
