Snowmobile Trail Report for Sunday, January 25, 2015

Went riding most of the day yesterday to check on conditions with the warm up hitting St. Germain, Sugar Camp and Eagle River trails. Eagle River trails are  bumpy and almost all the corners were blown out. The reason for this is that all 3 of their groomers are broke down. They are starting to groom again so hopefully their trails will improve soon. The other clubs have groomed recently so most of their trails were smoother with some  bumps in areas.

Temperatures were in the mid 30s yesterday with a little sun so trails did take a beating and traffic was heavy. Expect to find a mixed bag out there from  poor spots, majority in the fair to ok range, some good and also some very good stretches. You will see  a lot more snirt and brownish trails and the carbides will scrape more – mainly on the insides of corners. Some corners were down to bare ground as well as some areas on trails where the sun hit.  I still found some good to excellent trails that are mostly to all white with good snow cover, even in the corners. Try to get off the main corridor trails for the best riding. While there is plenty of decent riding, we could definitely use more snow to freshen things up and give the groomers more to work with.

This must be snowplowing week. Even though we haven’t had measurable snow all week all the plowed road trails I rode today have been plowed recently. They really scraped as much off as possible so there are areas where your carbides will scrape and they have more bare spots.
