Snowmobile Trail Report for Sunday, January 18, 2015

I headed out for a ride hitting some St. Germain, Eagle River, Sayner and Lake Tomahawk trails. The St. Germain and Sayner trails I rode were groomed – even saw the Sayner groomer. These trails were smooth and the corners were pretty good meaning snow had been pulled back on them. I’d list these trails as good overall with some fair areas and some very good to excellent. The Eagle River trail I rode hadn’t been groomed. It was getting bumpy. Majority of the corners were pushed and/or blown out making the insides all ice or thin on snow. I rode 2 Lake tomahawk trails. The first one was groomed and in good shape. The 2nd one hadn’t been groomed and was a washboard with pushed out corners. My carbides scraped on the insides of majority of the corners on this stretch.

Traffic was heavy this weekend. Combine that with temps in the low 30′s yesterday and trails did get beat up. I did see more snirt in areas leading to some trails having a brownish tint to them. However, there are still stretches that are all white with plenty of snow. Trails are soft right now and don’t set up well after the groomer goes through with the warmer temps.

Conditions overall are fair to good. It would be nice to get some snow to freshen things up and give the groomers more to work with.
