Snowmobile Trail Report for Sunday, February 12, 2017

We picked up a heavy dusting of snow last night. I went for a ride hitting some St. Germain, Sayner, Sugar Camp, Eagle River, Rhinelander and Lake Tomahawk trails. The St. Germain, Eagle River, Sugar Camp and Sayner trails I rode had been groomed. Lake Tomahawk groomed some of their trails but not others while the two Rhinelander trails I hit weren’t groomed. The ones that hadn’t been groomed were getting bumpy while all the others were smooth. I’m keeping most trails in the fair to good category.  There’s a few poor spots in area. Then there’s some that are really nice that you’ll want to turn around and ride again. There are a lot of icy spots and some corners are very icy so easy to push right through them. The carbides did scrape on the insides of some corners and on plowed road trails. There are some bare spots on the insides of a few corners and on some plowed roads trails. There is snirt out there leading to brownish colored trails. Trails had a soft feel to them since the temps are on the warm side. Groomers are doing a good job pulling snow back onto the icy corners but traffic will push it off as the day goes on.

Bottom line is the riding is decent with some good to excellent areas. However, you will scrape the carbides in spots and there are icy trails out there. Let’s keep hoping for more snow.

Note: The trails in some pics will looker whiter than they are due to the new snow.
