Snowmobile Trail Report for Saturday, February 21, 2015

We picked up a couple inches of fluffy snow between yesterday and last night. I headed out for a ride hitting some Sayner, Eagle River, Lake tomahawk, Minocqua and St. Germain trails. All the trails I rode were groomed except for the Eagle River trail. All the groomed trails were pretty smooth with some bumps here and there. The Eagle River trail I rode had some bumps but the worst part was almost every corner on that stretch was pushed/blown out making them icy and/or thin on snow.

Most trails are in the fair to good category, but there’s some very good ones too. With the fresh snow expect soft conditions today. More bumps will form as the day goes on and some corners will get pushed out. Watch for icy corners and some that are thin on snow so the carbides will scrape. Other corners have good snow and are fine.  A fair number of the trails have at least some brownish tint from snirt including some that are pretty brown. There are also some stretches that are all white with good snow. Plowed road trails are getting thin.

This snow definitely helped freshen things up and will give the groomers more to work with. Temps are suppose to plummet tonight so if the groomers are out they should set up really nice.

We’re coming to the end of February and there is good riding out there. Come up and enjoy it as we never know how long the season will last.
