Snowmobile Trail Report for Monday, January 2, 2017

Happy New Year! I went out for a short ride hitting some Sayner, Eagle River and St. Germain trails. Sayner and St. Germain both groomed last night.Eagle River hadn’t groomed the trail I rode. I have to say that the heavy holiday traffic this past week and weekend took its toll on the trails. Overall, trails were browner and had more snirt mixed in. Most corners I scraped on and some were down to ground or ice on the insides. The groomers are trying to work with the snow we do have and pull more back onto trails but more areas that are down to ground. The Eagle River trail was bumpy and most corners had little or no snow left on them. Carbides scraped lots even on the straight stretches.

I’m going to give the trails an overall fair rating. Some were decent while others were fair with poor stretches here and there.  There are more thin areas – mainly on the insides of corners but more are coming through on the straight trails too and your carbides will scrape. It’s a mixed bag out there. You will find some  good to ok to fair to poor  areas.

More lakes are now marked with most St. Germain area lakes marked too. Lakes have a lot of hardened slush so be careful.

Lets hope for more snow so we can get the trails back to the good category.
