Snowmobile Trail Report for Monday, February 9, 2015

I went for a ride yesterday afternoon/evening hitting some St. Germain, Eagle River, Conover, Land O’ Lakes and Sayner trails. I also crossed into MI and hit a few of their trails. What I found was a lot of beat up trails.

The snow was very loose – felt like I was riding on sugar. Most trails had bumps and there were a lot of pushed out corners with the insides being either icy or thin on snow. Majority of the trails I rode were looking brownish from the snirt. Plowed road trails are getting thin – I heard the carbides scrape more than I liked. There were some good stretches that are still white with plenty of snow and most corners are holding.

I’d rate the trails I rode yesterday as fair overall. There was some poor, most were average and some were good. I did ride on more popular corridor trails  and you’ll probably find better if you find less traveled ones. Conditions should improve as the groomers continue (I passed 2 Sayner groomers on my way home) to smooth the bumps and pull snow back onto corners. What we could really use is some snow since it’s been quite a while since we’ve had a decent snowfall.

Sorry – no pictures since I forgot the camera.
