Snowmobile Trail Report for Monday, December 12, 2016

Winter weather is finally here. We picked up 3-4 inches of snow yesterday so there is now 7-8 inches on the ground. It was a dry, fluffy snow so not the best for a base on the trails but it’s a start.

Vilas county trails will open Thursday, December 15, 2016 at noon.

We haven’t heard if any clubs will start panning the trails or if they will wait for more snow. We’ll update as we hear.

Most lakes are now froze over. However, there is NOT enough ice to even consider taking a snowmobile on them so stay off.

Temps are suppose to plummet this week which will be good to freeze up the swamps and also to make some ice on the lakes.

We need both snow and cold. Let’s get some cold weather first, then some snow and we’ll be riding soon.
