Snowmobile Trail Report for January 8, 2014

I finally headed out for a short ride this morning hitting Sayner and St. Germain trails to check on conditions. Temps have been in the -20′s below zero the last 3 mornings including today so we haven’t ridden. Trails were smooth, fast and packed in hard with the cold temps. There are snirty areas that are pretty brown, especially on corridor and heavily traveled trails. Others are all white.  Some corners are getting bare spots and some are icy so your carbides will scrape. Road trails are getting the ice base worn down more so you will scrape on these too.

I’ll still give trails an overall good rating but you will find brown, snirty areas and a few bare spots. The insides of more corners are definitely showing wear from the traffic making them icy or thin on snow. That being said there are still plenty of areas in the good to excellent category.  It’s suppose to be cold again tonight but warming up by Friday. Traffic has been almost nonexistent the last few days with the cold so trails haven’t gotten much wear.
