Snowmobile Trail Conditions for Saturday, January 11, 2014

Just a quick update: We picked up 2-3 inches of snow in the area last night. This will help give the groomers more to work with. Today expect soft conditions with mild temps and the fresh snow. There’s been a decent amount of traffic so trails will get a little beat up. Groomers should be out tonight to pack this new snow down but tomorrow is suppose to be low to mid 30′s making the trails feel soft. Monday is suppose to cool back off so should be a good week of riding.

Here’s the trail report from yesterday:

Snowmobile Trail Conditions for Friday, January 10, 2014

Headed out for a ride hitting some Sayner, St. Germain, Eagle River, Conover and Lake Tomahawk trails. Temps were in the upper teens so trails had a great feel – not too soft but not so hard pack their like cement. St. Germain, Sayner and Eagle River groomed their trails last night. Conover and Lake Tomahawk hadn’t groomed last night but have in the last day or two. Most trails were smooth with some very small chop on the Lake Tomahawk trails and some bumps the groomer wasn’t able to completely knock down or fill in on the Eagle River ones.

I’ll still give trails an overall good rating but you will find brown, snirty areas and a few bare spots. The insides of some corners are definitely showing wear making them icy or thin on snow. The carbides were scraping in some spots. That being said there are still plenty of areas in the good to excellent category. It’s suppose to warm up this weekend so expect to see more wear on the trails. We could use some snow to freshen things up and give the groomers more to work with.
